La Marionette de Mary cocktail

The winning cocktail by Kevin Brownlee of AnnaLena at Grey Goose Vodka 2015 Pour Masters bartender competition

Vancouver's AnnaLena (recently nominated as a finalist for enRoute's Canada's Best New Restaurant 2015) is known for its casual atmosphere and chef Mike Robbins' intricate dishes, but it's not only the food that draws attention. Bar Manager, Kevin Brownlee, who just won the national title at the Grey Goose Vodka 2015 Pour Masters bartender competition held in France, creates cocktails that are just as thoughtful and delicate. This winning cocktail was inspired by Brownlee's grandmother and the art of letter writing. Make this drink at home and you'll know just what we mean.

La Marionette de Mary

2 parts Grey Goose La Poire flavoured vodka
3/8 part Lillet Rouge
1/16 part Suze
1/8 part orgeat syrup
1/4 part fresh lemon juice
6 sprigs glacial mint

Combine all ingredients in a shaker and shake. Double strain, neat, in to a cocktail coupe.

On the side, garnish with a food pairing of Roqueforte cheese, Saussice sausage and a dark chocolate with cognac and pear.
