One day in Saskatoon: Radio and television host Darren Dupont

Saskatchewan produces more NHL hockey players per capita than any other province, and has some of the most die-hard fans when it comes to its CFL team the Roughriders. Suffice it to say the Prairie province loves its hockey and football. So, being a radio and television host covering the Western Hockey League and Canadian University football, in addition to being the Saskatoon Blades radio colour commentator and co-host of In the Huddle (covering the Saskatchewan Roughriders), Darren Dupont has his time eaten up by everything sports. When he does find time to dine out, you can likely find him at one of his favourite spots in Saskatoon.

Brunch

Poached on 2nd Ave. is my go-to; and from reading other posts on this site, you’ll know why. Another place I’ll wait in line to get into is the Park Café on 20th. It’s been around for a long time and has never changed. It is busy for a reason and worth the wait.

Lunch

I’ve only recently been turned on to Indian cuisine and I’m obsessed with Spicy Bite on 3rd Ave. I can’t speak on the entire lunch buffet because I keep it simple and skip everything else. I go crazy for beautiful jasmine rice with the creamiest butter chicken and non-stop naan bread. Seriously, I can’t say enough good things.

A very underrated date spot is 2nd Ave Grill. It has a romantic atmosphere and great food. (Fellas, it's very reasonably priced too. Bonus!)  I'm a big fan of Italian food and Taverna downtown is a great spot that never misses.

Drinks

The Underground Café makes the best cup of coffee in the city but the snacks at Collective Coffee are a big hit.

When it comes to after dinner drinks, one of the city’s neat places is the Vista Lounge near the Farmer's Market. It's a small place that can fill up fast but it has a great atmosphere and the live music is always great.
