Railtown Cafe's Maker’s Mark Finger Lickin’ Good BBQ Sauce

Use this recipe for a barbecue sauce that will go well with whatever you throw on the grill

Show off your barbecue skills by topping that perfect brisket or those perfect ribs with Railtown Cafe's whisky barbecue sauce. Located in Vancouver, the cafe specializes in comforting sandwiches, salads and soups, all made from scratch with the best ingredients and traditional technques. 

1/2 white onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced and cooked on low heat until sweet
1/2 tbsp chili flakes
6 ¼ cups ketchup
2 cups Bull’s Eye BBQ Sauce
2 tbsp Dijon mustard
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp coriander seeds
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp ground cumin
1 pinch cayenne pepper
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 jalapeño pepper, charred and seeded
1/4 pineapple, peeled, sliced and charred
2½ tbsp Maker’s Mark Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky

In a medium pot over medium-low heat, add all ingredients except whisky, and simmer for one and a half hours. 

Blend in a food processor or using a blender, adjust seasoning, and then stir in Maker’s Mark to finish.
