If you have spent any time working in the Toronto restaurant industry, chances are, you know the cook-turned-writer Ivy Knight. Outside of authoring and co-authoring several cookbooks, Knight's array of published work ranges from countless food and industry culture-related articles on Munchies to dynamic profiles for Playboy and just about everything in between. In addition, she also hosted the 86'd event series at The Drake Hotel on Queen Street West for eight years. Depending on the theme, the Monday night series would sometimes garner line-ups down the block.
"I left the kitchen a number of years ago. It's been a good life but I never realized my full potential," writes Knight in a Facebook post, officially announcing the new partnership with Yeager and Cepek.
She continues, "With our backgrounds in journalism, hospitality, culinary, strategy and marketing, we bring a fresh mindset to the world of communications and events. Our first activations--which included a seminar on dealing with sexual harassment in the restaurant industry, a boozy drag brunch and a sustainable ceviche smackdown--all sold out in record time. Creating authentic engagement, through diverse and unique programming, between our clients and their audience, is really important to us."
Ivy Knight says she will continue to write for publications such as Playboy and remains very busy putting the finishing touches on her debut novel, but the writer is very much looking forward to working with Yeager and Cepek and helping culinary businesses of all shapes and sizes find success in their respective realms.
