If you are looking for soulful, sultry, country music; look no further. Okotoks born and raised, Michela Sheedy represents a steely edge to the Canadian country music scene. She has graced some of the most esteemed stages in Alberta, including performances at the legendary Ranchman's, Cowboy's Nightclub, Big Valley Jamboree, Country Thunder and the Coca-Cola Stage at the Calgary Stampede. In the summer of 2017, Sheedy was titled winner of 96.5 CKFM Country Star Search. Recently, she was named a top 12 finalist in Calgary's Project WILD.
Sheedy is serving up not only quality country sound, but also quality eats! You can find her sipping on a coffee, or singing her heart out at the local country bar.
Tribal Connections Market has the best coffee in town, plus a huge selection of breakfast and lunch foods. This funky little shop also sells all the coolest bohemian trinkets and treasures. They also feature local talent on the weekends!
If you’re looking for good quality cooking, head down to Heartland Café on Elizabeth Street. Once an old church, Heartland Café makes fine dining easy and comfortable. They have a beautiful patio looking out onto town square where there is often community events and entertainment.
Rylie’s Cattle Barn Cookhouse and Saloon not only has the best BBQ food ever, they have their legendary open mic night on Thursdays, where I got my start when I was 14 years old. My favourite thing to eat at Rylies is their poutine. Ask for it with chicken, bacon and brisket. Trust me.
You could say that I’m a permanent fixture at InCahoots Bar & Grill. My local watering hole has Jack Daniels flowing all night, just the way I like it. My favourite thing about this bar is the staff and the late night spinach dip.
