After a recent stint cooking in Tokyo, one of the Canadian Prairies most well-known chefs, Mandel Hitzer, has returned home to Winnipeg with more creative ideas than ever, known well for both his restaurant deer + almond in Winnipeg's Exchange District, as well as RAW: Almond.

Heading into its sixth season, RAW: Almond is a pop-up winter dinner series where a dedicated venue is built in the middle of the frozen river just a short walk from Winnipeg's The Forks market. Over the course of three weeks, chefs from across Canada come to collaborate and cook multi-course dinners each night for Winnipeggers and tourists alike.

There aren't many details available as of yet about this new, out-of-town dinner series that will take place at Lake Winnipeg aside from its dates (December 29 - January 7). The one week only temporary restaurant will feature a special guest chef cooking alongside Hitzer and the structure will be designed by RAW: Almond co-founder, Joe Kalturnyk.

Updates on this exciting new reason to bundle up and trek outside for dinner will be posted as they become available.
