Calgary’s rapidly growing University District is getting ready to host its annual Block Party this weekend to celebrate both the recent launch of a new residence and a slew of soon-to-be-opened storefronts.

Arguably the most buzzworthy concept en route to the University District is the popular Japanese pancake purveyor Fuwa Fuwa, which opened its first Calgary location in May. Known for serving up some of the fluffiest pancakes you’re likely to find in Canada, the second Fuwa Fuwa outpost promises to be a welcome addition to an already burgeoning culinary community

In terms of the Block Party itself, event-goers can expect plenty of live music and entertainment, as well as a KidZone, outdoor patios, and an assortment of one-day promotions from University District.

The University District Block Party takes place along University Avenue on September 18 from 1 to 4 p.m.
