Plant-forward eatery MILA set to open in Vancouver

The new sister restaurant to Virtuous Pie will showcase a variety of globally-inspired plant-based offerings

A new eatery from the team behind the award-winning Virtuous Pie franchise is coming to Vancouver next month. Set to open in the space formerly occupied by Juniper Restaurant and Bar in historic Chinatown, MILA aims to offer something for everyone with a diverse range of plant-based fare.

Developed by chef Jim Vesal, MILA’s food program features an array of plant-forward options, from mushroom and sausage tagliatelle with pistachio pesto cashew cream to brioche smash burgers with cheddar cheese, lettuce, shaved onions, Roma tomatoes, black garlic chive aioli and pickles, to a selection of signature sushi options.

Chef Vesal, who joined Virtuous Pie’s founding team in 2015 to oversee operations, culinary development, and expansion, is excited to bring something new and exciting to Vancouver’s food scene.

“We’re thrilled to debut MILA’s one-of-a-kind menu to Vancouverites this September with the goal of introducing dishes that diners haven’t seen before,” says executive chef Jim Vesal. “MILA is for people with all types of dietary preferences and restrictions–not just vegans and vegetarians–as well as anyone seeking a lively space to celebrate special occasions, or simply dine out with friends and family on a weeknight.”

MILA also plans to deliver an equally alluring cocktail program with creations such as the Smoky MILA Sour (bourbon, cane syrup, vegan foamer, Ardbeg float) and the Orange Crush (pale ale, gin, cane syrup, blood orange soda), along with a variety of craft beer, cider, and wine options.

MILA is located at 185 Keefer Street and will be open daily for lunch and dinner. News regarding the eatery’s exact opening date and menu will be posted to MILA’s Instagram page.
