Brought to life by The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund and Toronto's Downtown Yonge BIA, Ziigwan Indigenous Arts and Music Festival kicked off last night to much fanfare. The robust three-day festival features a ton of cool foods, hand-crafted goods and a vibrant array of musical acts including Logan Staats, Shawnee Kish and Blackie & The Road Kings.

If you're looking for some filling food in a dynamic environment, this is certainly it!

The food offerings sound real fun and tasty and include vension poutine (topped with vension bone broth gravy and ground venison), game meat chili cheese fries, three sisters soup, bison panzerotti pockets,  blueberry cedar tea and more.

Ziigwan's food vendor is Dashmaawaan Bemaadzinjin. The innovative food security project both caters and runs its own Indigenous pop-up market. It utilizes its catering as a means to support Indigenous seniors and other vulnerable community members in Toronto.

Ziigwan Indigenous Arts and Music Festival is taking place at Yonge-Dundas Square until Sunday, March 26, 2023 and is free to attend. (Due to today's weather, all live performances have been moved into The Concert Hall at 888 Yonge St.)
