Top Chef Canada favourite Matthew Sullivan (left) leaves our cohosts shocked after this week's episode of Top Chef Canada.

Sometimes, when we think of Canada's food scene as a whole, we overlook the consumer foods aspect of it. Last week, Dan Clapson, our man about Canada, went to Montreal for the SIAL Canada conference and trade show to find out a bit more about food product innovation and Canadian companies who are growing organically at a healthy rate with interesting creations.

In-studio, cohosts Emma Waverman and Phil Wilson chat about a Toronto restaurant's seemingly racist actions to a table of patrons that led to a human rights case, former critic Chris Nuttall-Smith calling out Toronto's food media community for lack of authentic reporting (do you agree?) and, of course, they recap the fifth episode of the current season of Top Chef Canada.

Not to give any spoilers, but it was an emotional roller coaster of an episode with an end result that was hard to swallow for our two hosts.
