One Day in Toronto: CBC Gem series host Madison Tevlin

The actor and model shares her favorite food and drink spots in Toronto

After going viral on social media in 2015 thanks to a captivating cover of John Legend’s “All of Me”, Toronto-based singer, actor, and model Madison Tevlin has continued to inspire her ever-growing fan base to reject stereotypes in favour of following their dreams.

As a multi-talented and highly creative artist, Tevlin is often quoted as saying that having Down Syndrome is the least interesting thing about her. In her latest endeavour as the host of CBC Gem’s Who Do You Think I Am?, Tevlin welcomes a diverse cast of guests who have been misrepresented, misinterpreted, and misperceived throughout their lives, and always manages to get to the heart of their true stories.

When Tevlin isn’t sharing heartfelt moments with guests or inspiring fans on social media, she can likely be found enjoying Toronto’s world-class food and beverage scene. We recently had a chance to catch up with the impassionate interviewer to ask a few questions of our own about her favourite places to eat and drink in her hometown.

Breakfast

My favourite breakfast place would have to be home. I love a homemade breakfast; it’s when I can get creative in the kitchen.

If I was going to go out to eat somewhere for breakfast it would have to be the amazing Emma’s Country Kitchen. Their cinnamon bun pancakes are incredible!

Lunch

My favourite lunch place is Rolltation Sushi Burrito because I can get all different kinds of poke bowls and add all the toppings I want.

Dinner

My favourite dinner spot is Sotto Sotto. I really love Italian food and I have a lot of special memories with my family there.

I love going to the Drake Hotel. Even if it’s just for mocktails, I love getting dressed up with my mom and going to cool funky places [like this] with her.
