One Day in Toronto: singer Billy Raffoul

The singer-songwriter shares his favourite spots in Toronto

It's hard not to be charmed by indie rock artist Billy Raffoul at first listen and for good reason. His heartfelt lyrics and emotive vocals make him a true exemplar of a singer-songwriter, but it is the often-creative production that has helped establish him as the cream of the musical crop.

Since coming onto the Canadian music scene in 2017, Billy Raffoul has garnered well over 100 million streams on Spotfiy (no easy feat!) and in 2021, he garnered the SOCAN Songwriting Prize for his single “Western Skies.”

His latest offering is the 2023 EP Drive You Home. The seven-track album boasts notable tunes like "Jim Carrey" and "Alligator", with each song different in their own right while offering the same dreamy-and-captivating vibe fans are now used to when it comes to his music.

Calling Toronto home, it's obvious the indie rocker knows that there is much to love about the city's robust food scene. From some of the best burgers in the city to casual Korean eats, here are Billy Raffoul's favourite spots in Toronto.

Breakfast

Truthfully, I like to go to Fran’s Diner Restaurant and Bar and look across the street at Massey Hall, it's my bucket list music venue. The breakfast is a good bang for your buck and the coffee is strong.

Harry’s Charbroiled has the best burger in the city!

Dinner

I live down the street from Yummy Korean Food Restaurant and it’s probably my most frequented take-out spot. I love the Kimchi fried rice and the sweet and spicy chicken. This is tied with Selam Restaurant and Lounge, which has great Ethiopian food!

Drinks

I love Victory Café, and they serve my favourite beer La Fin Du Monde by Unibroue.
