Between playful treats like fried chicken bouquets and stunning Louis Vuitton-inspired purse chocolates, and its epic restaurant scene, Vancouver just might be the best Canadian city for foodies on Valentine's Day.

Adding to the mixture of fun food-related Valentine's Day gifts, Vancouver's only Japanese-style bagel shop WA-BAGEL recently unveiled its limited edition, heart-shaped bagel offering. Available exclusively from Feb. 7-9 and Feb. 12-14, 2024, WA-BAGEL's heart-shaped bagels are made from a base of their classic dough and finished with crystal sugar.

“We’re truly thankful for the warm and supportive reception we’ve received since opening, and look forward to continuing to introduce guests to our Japanese-style bagels, as well as unique and familiar flavour combinations,” explained head baker Yukiko Iikura, who previously owned her own Japanese-style bagelry in Tokyo. “I haven’t created a heart-shaped bagel before, and the testing process was really fun! We hope our guests will enjoy our version of a very kawaii bagel for Valentine’s Day.”

While a limited amount of heart-shaped bagels will be made available for walk-in customers on the aforementioned dates, on February 14, 2024, customers can also send a fun Valentine’s Day bagel-gram via UberEats.

WA-BAGEL is located at 666 Burrard Street in downtown Vancouver and open Mondays to Fridays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
