From delicious East Coast cooking with Top Chef Canada season 8 chef Stephanie Ogilvie to whiskey sours and songs with David James, there were a lot of fun moments during our tenth episode of Eat North Variety Pack.
Co-hosts Mairlyn Smith and Dan Clapson and panelist Carmen Cheng kicked things off with a conversation about embracing spring's first crops of produce (asparagus and fiddleheads) before talking about how different restaurants in Calgary are handling sit-down dining in a post-pandemic world.
The show's first guest is Halifax chef and current Top Chef Canada top 4 finalist, Stephanie Ogilvie. Stephanie talks about how the show has helped her come out of her shell and made her a stronger chef. After our chat, Stephanie shows Mairlyn how to make an easy Nova Scotia-inspired ceviche that anyone could whip up at home.
Next up, Leilani Olynik of the Calgary Farmers' Market discusses the trials and tribulations of running a successful market during the pandemic and what the future of farmers' market shopping looks like for them. New choices of transactions begs the question: is cash a thing of the past?
Finally, Winnipeg-based country singer David James explains why everyone should try making a cocktail with an egg white in it and performs his most recent radio single "If I Were You" off his latest EP.
