The Juno Awards 2016: the Cool With That cocktail

Inspired by Brett Kissel's Pick Me Up, nominated for Country Album of the Year at the 2016 Juno Awards, this cocktail uses J.P. Wiser's Canadian Whisky, the official whisky of the event. Together with the Downtown Cocktail, a vodka-grapefruit cocktail inspired by the Sheepdogs, these signature cocktails are must-haves for your viewing party.

2 oz. J.P. Wiser’s whisky
1/2 oz. simple syrup, preferably McGuinness
3/4 oz. fresh lemon juice
1/4 oz. grenadine
1 strip lemon zest, for garnish

Combine all ingredients, except lemon zest, in a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake hard until well blended and chilled, about 5 to 6 seconds.

Fine strain over ice in glass.

Squeeze a lemon zest across the drink to release the oils, give it a twist and place it in the drink.
