It may be a bit overdue compared to vodka, gin and whisky fans, but tequila lovers can finally cheers to having a wholly Canadian spirit made for them. Alex Lacroix and Monica Sanita created Siempre Tequila Plata using 100 per cent single estate blue weber agave. The product has been picking up steam since it's arrival on the market in December 2015. Now, it is available in Alberta liquor stores. In addition to having it as a sipper, you can make this tequila hibiscus cocktail at home.

If you don't have hibiscus and pink salt, you can just use sea salt for the rim.

Hibiscus and Himalayan pink salt rim, to garnish
1 oz. Siempre tequila
2 1/2 oz. hibiscus cordial
1 oz. freshly squeezed lime juice
1 mint leaf, to garnish
1 wedge lime, optional garnish

Rim a cocktail glass with hibiscus and pink salt, or sea salt.

Add remaining ingredients to an ice-filled shaker. Shake, strain into prepared glass, and garnish with fresh mint leaf (optional lime wedge).
