An old cold remedy gets a facelift with sake in place of whisky in this recipe.
Hot sake toddy
1/2 lemon, juiced
6 oz. sake, Junmai, Yamahai, Kimoto sakes are ideal
1 tbsp honey
1 stick cinnamon
1 wedge lemon, for garnish
whole cloves, optional
nutmeg, optional
fresh ginger, optional
Place lemon juice and honey into glass or mug.
Pour the heated sake into glass or mug, mix until honey dissolves.
Garnish with cinnamon stick and lemon wedge. Add optional spices and ginger slices to taste.
