In the film Mr. Right, shown at this year's Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Anna Kendrick falls for a sweet-natured hitman played by Sam Rockwell. What's better to illustrate that kind of love than this cocktail created by Julien Salomone, master mixologist and co-owner of East Thirty-Six and Boutique Bar?
1-1/2 oz. Bulleit rye whiskey
1/2 oz. Lillet Rouge
1/2 oz. lemon juice
1/4 oz. Le Sirop de Monin, rose syrup
5 dashes rhubarb bitters
orange zest, to garnish
Pour all ingredients save for zest into a cocktail shaker. Shake, then pour into a lowball glass and garnish with orange zest.
