Three of Vancouver’s most popular Mount Pleasant restaurants are teaming up for the holidays to offer a series of specials for December.
Como Taperia, Main Street Brewing, and AJ’s Brooklyn Pizzeria, each with deep roots in the Mount Pleasant community, will be donating $1 from their respective “Mount Pleasant Crawl” menus to support local non-profit BabyGoRound, which provides local families in need with baby products and other essentials.
“The Mount Pleasant neighbourhood is a growing community, and we wanted to do our part in spreading the word about the area and give back at the same time,” says Nigel Pike, operations manager and owner of Main Street Brewing Company. “Each of the locations is known for something different. AJ’s obviously has the Brooklyn vibe, Como Taperia is influenced by Spain, and at Main Street Brewing, we are all about Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant. We hope people will check out each location and maybe even in one night!”
AJ’s Brooklyn Pizzeria has created two pizzas for the occasion: the Madrid and the Seville. The Madrid is a vegetarian pizza with paquillo, mushrooms, and guindilla peppers, finished off a smoked paprika cream sauce, and the Seville is dressed with pickled anchovies, serrano ham, and is finished with cooked spinach and Manchego cheese.
Como Taperia and Main Street Brewing are both featuring liquid libations: Como has created a Long Island G&T with Resurrection Spirits’ gin, Odd Society Spirits’ East Van Vodka, Pisco, Ms. Betters Cola Bitters, faux lime juice, and Mediterranean tonic; while Main Street Brewing has put together a custom hazy IPA brewed with Seville oranges.
“There are so many young families in Mount Pleasant, and we really wanted to support an organization that helps them, which is how we found BabyGoRound,” adds Shaun Layton, partner at Como Taperia.
The “Mount Pleasant Crawl” begins December 1 and ends on December 31, 2019. Both Como Taperia and Main Street Brewing’s features will be available at all three locations.
