Cheers to Halloween with this tasty toffee sour cocktail

This spin on a classic whiskey sour uses Jameson Black Barrel Irish whiskey for something a little more elevated as well as an easy toffee syrup to round it all out.

If nutmeg spooks you a bit too much—not everyone loves its intensity—than feel free to skip the garnish.

Toffee Sour cocktail

1.5 ounces Jameson Black Barrel Irish whiskey
0.75 ounces fresh lemon juice
0.5 ounce toffee syrup, instruction to make syrup below cocktail recipe
3 dashes chocolate bitters
1 egg white

Place all ingredients into a cocktail shaker, add ice and shake well. Double strain into a chilled glass of your choice. Garnish with sprinkling of nutmeg and chocolate.

How to make toffee syrup

Toffee syrup is relatively easy: One cup of sugar and one cup (1/2 stick) of butter.

Continuously stir over a medium heat for 5 mins until its a nice rich brown colour. Add water if too thick.

Allow toffee syrup to cool.
