After some slight delays, we are very pleased to announce our winners for 2019 Eat North Rising Awards, a writing scholarship competition for emerging Canadian writers! This year, we received an influx of submissions for the Foodservice category of the awards. As a result, we have decided to select one winner only in both the Culinary Fictional Short Story and Agricultural Production categories to allow for one winner and three runners-up in the Foodservice category.
The six winning writers, as determined by our editorial staff, hail from across the country and were selected for their interesting approach to food writing. Whether it was a personal story of growing up in the grocery industry or a beautifully described experience at a restaurant in Quebec, each story had its own unique voice and stood out from the rest of the pack.
All six winning pieces will be published on our site beginning next week and, without further ado, here are our 2019 winners!
