Bittered Sling Charentes-Chanson

Co-Proprietor of Bittered Sling Bitters and bar manager of Vancouver's UVA Wine & Cocktail Bar, Lauren Mote is one of the most knowledgeable mixologists in Canada. She was named Canadian Bartender of the Year at Diageo World Class Canada competition in 2015. So, if you're in the West Coast city, pay her a visit for some of the best cocktails. Or, you can get your hands on some Bittered Sling bitters and extracts for your own cocktail party at home using her recipe. 

This brandy cocktail is an ode to Charentes, the South Western part of France which produces the greatest brandies in the world, and it'll warm you right up on cold winter days.

1 1⁄2 oz. Courvoisier VS cognac
1/2 oz. Okanagan Spirits Framboise Eau-de-Vie
3/4 oz. Averna Sicilian Amaro
1/2 oz. Echt Stonsdorfer herbal fruit liqueur (spiced liqueur)
2 dashes Bittered Sling Malagasy Chocolate Bitters

Add all ingredients to a mixing glass, add ice and stir until well chilled and diluted, about 15 to 20 seconds.

Using a julep strainer, serve neat in a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a twist of orange peel.
