Halifax Pride Festival is going on until July 29 and if you want to support this event while you're out on the East Coast, this cocktail from The Carleton Kitchen is for you. A dollar from every cocktail sold will go to the Rainbow Refugee Association of Nova Scotia (RRANS), an organization that privately sponsors, resettles, and advocates for LGBTQI+ refugees in Nova Scotia. If you're not in Halifax, try making this cocktail at home tonight!

2 oz. Evan Williams Bourbon
1/2 oz. red wine
1 oz. simple syrup
1 oz. fresh strained lemon juice
1 lime wheel, garnish

Fill half of shaker with ice.

Add bourbon, simple syrup, lemon juice.

Shake well, getting a good frost on shaker.

Add fresh ice cubes into rocks glass, and strain contents of shaker into glass.

Slowly pour (“float”) red wine onto back of barspoon over the top of your cocktail to sit atop. Garnish with lime wheel.

Savour with pride.
