The only thing better than a deliciously refreshing drink is a drink that looks beautiful at the same time.

Taking inspiration from both the classic Bramble and a Smash, this bright and all-too-crushable Bramble Smash cocktail calls for Canadian wild blueberry jam instead of fruit liquer (former) or muddling (latter). The jam acts as both a flavour booster and colour booster, while providing just enough sweetness to balance out the gin, dry vermouth and lime.

While any good quality London Dry gin will get the job done here, using a naturally-coloured gin such as Empress 1908 Gin will add nicely to the visual of the cocktail. No harm in tossing in some frozen Canadian wild blueberries along with the ice cubes in your glass if you've feelin' extra fun too.

Cheers!

Wild blueberry Bramble Smash

2 tbsp Canadian wild blueberry jam
2 oz good quality London Dry-style gin
1/2 oz dry vermouth
1/2 oz fresh lime juice

Place wild blueberry jam, gin, dry vermouth and lime into a cocktail shaker.

Fill with ice, cover and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds.

Strain into an ice-filled rocks glass, top with soda water, garnish with fresh mint and lime wheel.
