Get ready for National Mojito Day on July 11. While we love the original with rum, lime and mint, this version from Toronto's Miku is a great interpretation with an Asian flair. You can find shiso leaves at most specialty Asian grocers.
4 fresh shiso leaves
2 wedges lime
5 mL lime juice
10 mL simple syrup
45 mL Yama Yuzu sake
6 to 8 oz. soda water, enough to top
In a shaker, muddle 3 shiso leaves, lime, lime juice, and simple syrup.
Add sake and ice, and shake vigorously.
Strain and pour all into a tall beer glass, top with crushed ice (if available) and soda water. Garnish with a shiso leaf.
