It's been a long time in the making, and now the debut cookbook from food writers Dan Clapson and Twyla Campbell is officially available for pre-order.

With a release date of August 29, 2023, and as its name implies, the upcoming Canadian cookbook Prairie: Seasonal, Farm-Fresh Recipes Celebrating the Canadian Prairies aims to showcase the ingenuity and charm of the food culture of the Canadian Prairies through its 100+ recipes. The book also features a mix of culinary tips and tricks and, most importantly, many heartfelt nods to dynamic local producers and makers.

Arranged by season, the robust collection of recipes include the co-authors own original, go-to home recipes as well as signature dishes from notable Prairie-based chefs and food personalities including Christie Peters (Primal and Pop Wine Bar, Saskatoon), Carmen Cheng (food writer, Calgary), Jenni Lessard (culinary consultant, Regina), Adam Donnelly (Petit Socco, Winnipeg), and more.

"Having grown up spending summers in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, I discovered the food traditions and bounty of Canada’s prairie provinces throughout my childhood," says award-winning food writer and author Lesley Chesterman. "Dan and Twyla have done a superb job of interpreting the best of prairie food in a modern style with a nod to tradition, yet without falling into the folksy image we have of these under-appreciated regions with their unique ingredients and multicultural cuisine."

In addition to Chesterman, early praise for the soon-to-be-released Prairie cookbook has came from a mix of notable Canadians including Andrew Phung, Arlene Dickinson, and Lucy Waverman.

"Dan and Twyla have put together such a wonderful book of recipes and have broken each of them down for the reader. They've captured the beauty of the Prairies, and this book honestly made me hungry. As a dad who loves to cook, I can't wait to dig into these recipes," said Phung.

The Prairie cook is currently available to pre-order online from all major North American book retailers such as Chapters-Indigo and Amazon. The book be available for purchase at book stores across Canada and select US cities on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023.
