The newly revamped House Special in Vancouver's Yaletown neighbourhood is busy celebrating the start of the Lunar New Year this weekend the only way they know how: with interesting food and drink.

Even if you don't plan on joining the festivities, you can still toast to the year of the rat with this fun martini, made with dragon fruit, vodka and vanilla liqueur.

Lucky Dragon Martini

1/2 oz. Galliano Vanilla Liqueur
1/3 oz. simple syrup
1 slice dragon fruit, approximately 1" thick, skin removed and reserved
1 1/2 oz. good quality vodka
1 pinch black sesame seeds, for garnish

In a cocktail shaker, muddle Galliano, simple syrup and dragon fruit. Add vodka and ice. Cover and shake for 15-20 seconds.

Strain contents of shaker into a chilled martini glass.

Garnish with skewered dragon fruit rind and a pinch of black sesame seeds, and serve.
