One day in Calgary: Buzz Bishop

This Calgarian is always out and about. Let's see where he likes to eat.

Buzz Bishop

Buzz Bishop is a man of many talents. A Calgary dad to two sons and radio guy for XL 103.1, Bishop authors his own popular website DadCamp, as well as other online sources. A master of viral media, he's an engaging personality to follow along with on social streams. Last, but not least Bishop confesses to spending too much time tweeting and not enough time eating at these fine places that he loves so much.

Here are the places this popular radio host enjoys while he's off the airwaves in Calgary.

Breakfast

Red's Diner: Breakfast is my favourite meal and Red's is the best. Whether it's strawberry-stuffed French toast or a classic Benny, this is the place to recover with friends after a wild night, or bring the kids and have a friendly-family breakfast out.

Lunch

Viet Sub Express: Lunch for a midday radio host is usually leftover dinner, reheated in the office microwave. But, on the days when I'm covering another shift, I love popping into Viet Sub Express on 37th St S.W. for a chicken satay sub. The Vietnamese options in Calgary are endless and this fresh, crisp, spicy sandwich is a quick and easy on-the-go option.

Dinner

Mercato West: Without a doubt, a couple's night out here, eating at the bar overlooking the kitchen, is a wonderful way to connect with friends. The food is casual, upscale, authentic, and delicious. Yes, it's expensive, but on special occasions it's merited.

Drinks

Gravity Espresso & Wine Bar: OK, "drinks" means something different to a dad with two small kids. For me, "drinks" is a rooibos tea and a fluffy chocolate croissant. Gravity is the perfect place to crack open the laptop, get some work done, and soak up some sun from its beautiful windows. Best part? This place is licensed, so if "drinks" means something different to you than it does to me, then you can light it up.
