Blending rural roots with an urban polish, Project WILD finalist, Olivia Rose, has melodies that can give you an earworm. This up and coming county artist received the 2016 Mayors Youth Award as well as the Rising Star award at the Edmonton Music Awards and is currently up for nomination at the Alberta County Music Awards. Rose has a firecracker stage presence, and has opened for a number of country artists like Brett Kissel, Cold Creek County, Chad Brownlee and Aaron Pritchett. Rose's eats also bring the heat, as she dishes on her favourite Edmonton eats and her love of a good dive bar! A country girl through and through, Rose loves fried chicken and a cold beer.

Listen to her edgy country sound as you read about her favourite hometown eats.

The minute you step into Old Strathcona, you are bound to be hit with the most amazing aroma of MEAT’s signature smokehouse smell and there’s no way you can’t stop in for a bite to eat. I love a good eggs Benny and they have the beef brisket Benny on their menu, and it is honestly the best eggs Benedict I have ever tasted. It also comes with their cube-cut hash browns and a delicious homemade hollandaise sauce. If you’re ever on Whyte around brunch time, go to MEAT

Lunch

Three words: Seoul Fried Chicken. You can get a pizza box full of fried chicken, coleslaw, fries and a drink for $13. They have a bunch of different flavours of chicken too, my favourite would be either the Onion Lover or the G.P Cheese. And they also stay open until midnight, so it’s also one of the best late night take-out places you can go to.

Although I’m not a vegetarian, Padmanadi is a really delicious veggie restaurant. Their food is a blend of Indonesian, Chinese, Thai, and Indian cuisine. I also don’t love anything too spicy, but they have this curry dish that I get with coconut rice and some coconut milk that I mix in.

I am a fan of dive-y type bars and one of my favourites on Whyte Ave is the Buckingham. They have all of the delicious Edmonton brewed beers like Alley Kat, Yellowhead and Sea Change and they’re always on for cheap. Also, considering I am a foodie, they have some very awesome vegan food, the nachos are my favourite!
