One Day in Ontario: Jordan Macdonald of Texas King

A Canadian rocker shares his favourite places to eat and drink

We don't get enough rock and roll on this site, so today we're pleased as punch to get a little taste of Ontario-based band Texas King.

The Canadian rock group has been making music together since 2013. They've traveled all across North America over the past decade, and at times alongside heavy hitters like Big Wreck, Last Dinosaurs, and The Glorious Sons.

Texas King's latest release "Home" dropped in mid-Spring and has garnered tens of thousands of streams. Come July 7, the band will release their new EP Capsize, which you can pre-save now on all streaming platforms.

Recently, we had a chance to chat with lead singer and guitarist Jordan Macdonald about his favourite places to eat in Toronto and London, ON. From an Aerosmith-inspired omelette to a Toronto classic for late night drinks, his picks are worth noting.

Breakfast

Frankie’s Diner's Guac This Way Omelette slaps.

Lunch

I love Sammy’s Souvlaki Hut in London, ON. Always get the chicken souvlaki with a Greek salad and a greek poutine because [they're both awesome]!

Dinner

My backyard is the best spot in town for dinner...but if you do need a restaurant, I majorly f&$k with Company Bar and Los Lobos in London.

Drinks

I love a good dive bar, so The Wortley Roadhouse in London is a favourite. For cocktails, [I like] Hunter & Co. too.

In Toronto, 416 Snack Bar is great, and I love the vibe of Sneaky Dees too.
