Formerly the lead singer and co-songwriter for the Boom Chucka Boys, Ryan Langlois embarked on his solo journey following the dissolution of the band, realizing that his dream hadn’t really died. Reinvigorated and inspired from listening to other people's songs and stories, Langlois debuted his first record as a solo artist, Light Dark. Langlois is one of 12 top artists featured in this year's Project WILD Showcase Series, which aims to boost the music careers of emerging Alberta artists. You can catch Langlois on September 28 at Knoxville's Tavern in Calgary. If you're in his hometown of Red Deer, you  might just see him at these following spots for some food and drinks.

Breakfast

My house. Honestly. I make a killer breakfast, and I’m frugal. Breakfast out has gotta be cheap and tasty. A tough combo to find.

Lunch

There’s a Vietnamese restaurant downtown called Pho Thuy Dong. It has the best pho I’ve ever had, anywhere. Top notch. I get the no. 10 with extra veggies!

Dinner

Unless I’m on the road, I don’t dine out often. So when I do, it’s usually a grease night. Two spots I have to mention. Burger Boy, coolest old diner/burger shop around. It’s in a tough part of town and has been there for a long, long time. The double Shroom Boy (mushroom Swiss) burger...Oh, yeah! And Western Pizza: fresh toppings piled high and thick. So good.

Drinks

I’m a craft beer guy, so Troubled Monk brewery in Red Deer is my choice. Good beer, cool spot. A close second is the Tuesday night open mic at the International Beer Haus. Good music, great people.
