Calgary's dining scene has been giving the city a lot of exposure over the last few years, and the growth shows no signs of slowing down. But with agriculture being a big part of the province, farming communities around Calgary can't be overlooked when it comes to food. Just north of Calgary, Olds may not be well known to those outside the province but in Alberta, Olds College is well known for its agriculture program. Olds is also home to music artist Dustin Farr, singer and songwriter who is a part of this year's Project WILD Showcase Series.
Since receiving his first guitar at 17 years old, Dustin Farr hasn't put it down since. Inspired from the local artist who taught him to play at first, he has found his voice and style, and has been writing music regularly over the past several years. Find out some of the best food and drinks are in town.
Breakfast
The Country Nook [in Didsbury, AB] has a great retro feel to it, like having breakfast at grandma’s house when we were kids. The food is true down-home style cooking and will leave you filled to the brim!
Lunch
Grouchy Daddy’s has an uptown atmosphere with a rustic charm. With a fantastic menu that makes it difficult to choose, its tasty options don't disappoint.
Dinner
Our Flames Restaurant makes the best tortellini alfredo!! This is my go-to dish whenever I eat here!! It has a sophisticated, quiet atmosphere, which makes for a great date night out with a loved one.
Drinks
Tracks Pub is a great place to go with friends for a pint, and often, there is great live music playing here throughout the year. The owner likes to find all genres of acts to play here, and is a true supporter of new music. Wednesday nights are Shwing nite, which is the same as wing night, but better because you can get the same flavours of shrimp as you can wings!! Watch out for the hottest of hot, because they’ll leave you with a "Slow Burn"!! (That’s a name of one of my songs, see what I did there? Ha!)
