It's not breaking news that canned cocktails (or RTDs) are ubiquitous in all provincial markets these days. Whether you're wanting to sip on a something as commonplace as a White Claw or a hard iced coffee like PARK Distillery's Mountain Joe, liquor store shelves are crowded with options.
Cutting through the noise—and of the most interesting canned cocktails brands to debut in BC and Alberta earlier this year—is Inversion Nitro Cocktails.
The cocktail line offers three different drinks (Classic Margarita, Elderflower Gin Sour, and Classic Whiskey Sour) in 250 mL can four-packs. Injected with nitrogen gas, the end-product cocktails boast a velvety texture when shaken vigorously and poured quickly into a glass.
Though all three cocktails are undeniably refreshing, and do a remarkable job of mimicking egg-white-like foam that you'd get with a professional shaken drink, the Classic Whiskey Sour is a stand-out. It's especially delicious with a notable amout of Angostura bitters providing a nice winter-spiced effect, which feels perfectly at home when sipping during the holiday season.
