After emerging in the public eye 20 years ago as a contestant (and eventual runner-up) on the inaugural season of Canadian Idol, Gary Beals has become a mainstay in the R&B/soul music scene in Canada.

The talented singer has garnered many accolades over the past two decades thanks to three albums that have resulted in Top 10 singles, a JUNO Award nomination and much more. Born in Nova Scotia, the province even recognizes November 22nd as Gary Beals Day in acknowledgement of his achievements.

How cool is that?

Gary Beals is once again making waves with his new album, The Melody Within, which was released on October 27. The album features 14 tracks that exude a myriad of pop, R&B, and soul elements that result in a dynamic start-to-finish listening experience.

From a no-frills, delicious diner breakfast to comforting Haitian food for dinner, here's where Gary Beals loves to eat in his home base of Toronto.

Breakfast

My go-to breakfast spot is The George Street Diner. It's known for its hearty Ultimate Irish Breakfast, friendly service, and cozy atmosphere.

The well-seasoned fries, beans, sausages, ham, bacon, and scrambled eggs, along with the soda bread, make it a delicious choice for breakfast or brunch!

Gus Tacos is my lunchtime favourite! Following a rehearsal at Lynx Music, I can't resist stopping by Gus Tacos, and it never fails to leave me satisfied.

My top pick is the beef torta, and I usually indulge in some chicken and fish tacos as well. The best part? I often have leftovers, and they somehow taste even more delicious the next day!

For supper, I always turn to Rhum Corner, a Haitian restaurant that never disappoints. When family comes to visit, this is my go-to spot to share a scrumptious meal.

My ultimate favourite thing to order is the oxtail and fried chicken combo.

Drinks

I enjoy hitting up Anejo for their happy hour, which runs from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and again from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. daily.

As a tequila lover, this Mexican gem offers a fantastic selection of Margaritas. The classic, ginger, and guava Margaritas are my top picks.
