Lonely Mouth Bar to open in former Ox Bar de Tapas space on 17th Avenue

Concorde Group's lateset concept in Calgary should open by late fall

The construction of Lonely Mouth Bar is currently underway.

For all of the hurdles restaurant and bar operators have faced and continue to face during the pandemic, Calgary's 17th Avenue has seemed to weather the storm just fine. The ever-bustling street has no shortage of food and drink options and, come late fall, it will have another eatery to opt for.

Lonely Mouth Bar—the latest concept from Concorde Group—is currently in the process of taking over the former Ox Bar de Tapas, just down the way from The Ship and Anchor. Ox closed last year and has quietly sat vacant until several months ago when construction for this new spot started up.

While there aren't a ton of details surrounding the new 17th Avenue eatery, it is being billed as "Calgary’s newest sake bar serving an eclectic variety of modern Japanese food and drink" and promises housemade udon noodles, unique sushi rolls, a dynamic cocktail list and more. With the interior being conjured up by Frank Architecture and Design, it's fair to expect a slick-looking space to bring it all together.

Lonely Mouth Bar soft launched their Instagram account this summer, so follow that for updates, official opening date and more.
