Here are 12 Calgary eateries serving up delicious Thanksgiving fare this fall

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and like many of the country’s annual traditions that have passed throughout the pandemic, this year’s festivities will likely look a little different from years past.

But thanks to a selection of the city’s top chefs and restaurants, Thanksgiving in Calgary will still be brimming with comfort, familiarity, and a wide assortment of delicious seasonal fare to feed family and friends this October 12.  

Whether you’re planning on dining out, serving a quiet dinner for two at home, or you’ve been entrusted with providing a full-fledged feast for a large group, there are plenty of ways to keep your Thanksgiving spirit alive in Calgary this year.

Whether you’re looking for Thanksgiving starters, sides, salads, or the full turkey dinner experience, A1 Bodega has you covered. Available in individual or ensemble kits, A1’s Thanksgiving spread is perfect for the home cook who just needs a little direction.   

Available for parties of 2-4 or 4-6, A1’s full Thanksgiving package includes a brined half or whole turkey, a creamy potato casserole, a Brussels sprouts kit, a stuffing kit, a mixed greens kit, whisky cranberry sauce, apple galette, along with detailed instructions for each.

The Beltliner

The Beltliner is offering a take-out Thanksgiving package fit to feed two, four, or six guests. The 12th Ave eatery has created a classic spread of Thanksgiving fare that includes a slow roasted sliced turkey, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, lemon roasted Brussels sprouts, honey glazed carrots, sourdough stuffing, gravy, and individual pumpkin pie with whip cream. 

Orders must be placed via email by October 5.

Flores and Pine

Flores and Pine are offering both take-out and dine-in options for guests this Thanksgiving. Both the dine-in Thanksgiving dinner and the take-out package include a free-run turkey from Bowden Farms along with a variety of classic dishes such as butternut squash and pumpkin soup, roasted and honey glazed Brussels sprouts with root vegetables, pumpkin cheesecake, and more. 

Reservations for dine-in and orders for take-out can be made online. Additional wine pairings are available for both.

Forage Foods

Forage Foods is taking guests to the east coast this Thanksgiving with a jiggs dinner package inspired by the classic Newfoundland tradition. Forage is serving an organic free-range turkey from Winter’s Turkeys along with salt beef, mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy, peas pudding, and boiled vegetables.

Harling Food Co.

Chef Jamie Harling and the Harling Food Co. team have put together a Thanksgiving package that includes a sausage stuffed roast turkey, pomme puree, savoury bread pudding, Brussels sprouts, and pumpkin cheesecake. Each meal is priced per person and comes with additional wine pairing options and a detailed recipe on how to reheat from home. 

Online orders will be delivered on October 10 between 1-5 p.m. or can be picked up on October 11 before noon.

Hy’s Steakhouse

This year, Hy’s is offering a take-out Thanksgiving dinner for 4-6 people that includes a whole roast turkey, apple sage stuffing, buttermilk mashed potatoes, roasted honey glazed baby carrots, green beans almondine, orange brandy cranberry sauce, and herbed pan gravy. For dessert, Hy’s has prepared a classic homemade pumpkin pie.

JOEY Restaurants

JOEY Restaurants is providing plenty of options for guests this Thanksgiving with packages that include a traditional turkey package along with a customizable a la carte prime rib dinner. The turkey dinner is served with all of the traditional fixings from caramelized apple sage stuffing and roasted garlic mashed potatoes to a fresh baked apple cranberry pie with maple ice cream. 

The a la carte experience offers guests the option to add a slow roasted 20oz prime rib, truffle parmesan mashed potatoes, chocolate pecan pie, and a pumpkin spiced cheesecake dessert. Guests are also invited to add additional sommelier recommended wine pairings as well as buns for next day sandwiches.

Our Daily Brett

Our Daily Brett is continuing its annual Thanksgiving tradition this year with a full turkey dinner package that serves between six and eight guests. In addition to a honey roasted and lemon brined Hutterite turkey breast and wing, ODB’s kit includes a Deepwater Farms kale salad, a beet and walnut salad, roasted Brussels sprouts, mashed red kuri squash, Yukon Gold scalloped potatoes, pumpkin or pecan pie, and more. 

ODB’s Thanksgiving package is available to order online until October 7 or until they sell out.

River Cafe

If you’re planning a large Thanksgiving feast for family and friends this year then River Cafe is the way to go. Available in packages that serve 8-10 or 12-14, River Cafe’s hyperlocal Thanksgiving menu is as versatile as it is plentiful. 

Along with a honey brined free-range turkey from Winter’s Turkeys, the Thanksgiving package includes Brussels sprouts from Innisfail Growers, honey glazed carrots from Beck’s Farms, butternut squash and pumpkin pie from Sudo Farms, and a number of traditional, yet elevated  accompaniments. River Cafe’s Thanksgiving package also includes an assortment of gluten free options.

Another Calgary landmark offering both dine-in and take-out options this Thanksgiving is The Ship and Anchor. Guests will have the option to choose from either a traditional braised turkey dinner with all of the usual fixings or a honey glazed butternut squash ravioli with caramelized onion, brown butter, sauteed spinach, and grana padano. Both packages include the option to add pumpkin pie with whipped cream.  

Orders must be placed online by October 5.

Sunterra Market

Sunterra Market is offering two different Thanksgiving packages this year: one that includes a traditional hand-rubbed turkey and one that includes a honey mustard glazed Soleterra d’Italia Modena ham. 

Both take-out options include a pumpkin apple pie, a sweet potato ginger bisque, a succotash salad, and a slew of traditional Thanksgiving sides such as buttermilk mashed potatoes, stuffing, and cranberry sauce.

Yellow Door Bistro

Yellow Door Bistro is taking the guesswork out of your Thanksgiving dinner by offering a custom take-out package to fit any size of gathering. Along with all of the usual fixings, chef Quinn Staple and the Yellow Door Bistro team are serving up a carved turkey breast with confit turkey leg stuffing.
