Valentine’s Day is now just over a week away. Whether you’re planning to celebrate the spirit of love or not, Vancouver is one of the best places in Canada to be on February 14 thanks to the incredible array of Valentine’s Day-themed food and beverage offerings from the city’s culinary community.

From opting to spoil your special someone with a decadent box of confections from a celebrated pastry chef to indulging in a luxurious multi-course menu at an acclaimed eatery, to feasting on a ready-to-eat meal kit from an award-winning caterer with friends and family, Valentine’s Day in Vancouver will be one to remember.

ARC Restaurant

The acclaimed Fairmont Waterfront eatery is celebrating Valentine’s Day with an all-inclusive After Dark-style dinner for two featuring an all-you-can-eat selection of small tasting plates to share. 

The Heart After Dark menu features 16 dishes to choose from, including smoked salmon rillettes, duck confit and ricotta gnudi, pan seared steelhead, braised short rib, lamb T-bone, and Belgian dark chocolate fondue.

Beaucoup Bakery

Never one to rest on the laurels of her reputation as one of the country’s top pastry chefs, Beaucoup Bakery’s Betty Hung has put together a fantastic Valentine’s Day collection inspired by classical treat pairings with a twist. 

The Heart Beats Collection features items such as the You’re my Butter Half caramel and popcorn financier tarts, heart-shaped treats filled with crunchy hazelnut praline and passion fruit milk chocolate ganache, and 12-piece boxes of peanut butter duja with honey and strawberry vanilla bonbons. 

Beaucoup Bakery has also partnered with The Flower Petaler to offer long-stemmed red roses during Valentine’s Day weekend at the cafe.

Boulevard Kitchen and Oyster Bar

Boulevard Kitchen and Oyster Bar is hosting a special one-night-only Valentine’s Day dinner on February 14. Chef Roger Ma has designed an elevated and luxurious five-course menu with options ranging from seared foie gras with chestnut and celery espuma, honey crisp apple, glazed chestnut, and walnut brioche to gratinee of Nova Scotia lobster with bone marrow crust, parsnip, and roasted porcini.

To finish, equally-acclaimed pastry chef Kenta Takahashi has created a decadent platter of strawberry meringue chantilly, sesame praline bar, chocolate mousse, and caramel raspberry.

Buttermere Patisserie

Buttermere Patisserie chef Jamie Tung has created two stunning Valentine’s Day-themed cakes that will be available to order on the Buttermere website until February 10. 

The Cupid cake is a 6-inch chocolate hazelnut madeleine with apricot jelly, caramel crunch, and caramel mousse, while the Beauty and the Beast cake is a 4.5-inch espresso panna cotta with alunga biscuit, chocolate cream, and coffee mousse, topped with a rose-encased sugar dome.

Fanny Bay Oyster Bar

In addition to a selection of freshly-caught Valentine’s Day dine-in features that include options like filet mignon and lobster with bearnaise sauce, heart-shaped lobster ravioli, and a raspberry macaron ice cream sandwich, Fanny Bay Oyster Bar has also assembled a special takeout Seafood Boil Feast Kit.

The takeout kit is fit to feed four and features offerings such as Dungeness crab, Manila clams, mussels, prawns, and more. The restaurant has also curated a selection of old and new world wines to pair with the kit.

Fresh Ideas Start Here

Fresh Ideas is offering an incredible array of seafood-centric packages for Valentine’s Day, including a chilled seafood platter with lobster, Dungeness crab, sashimi, snow crab, octopus salad, clams, mussels, and much more. 

The B.C.-based seafood purveyor has also created a Breakfast in Bed kit that comes complete with crab cakes, salmon cakes, smoked lox, and an assortment of sides and sauces, as well as a full oyster kit that comes with a dozen local live oysters, traditional sauces, and an oyster shucker.

Kafka's Coffee

Kafka's Coffee’s Ultimate Sweets Box has officially returned for Valentine’s Day 2022 and this year’s collection is sure to impress. 

The Valentine’s package comes packed with a colourful assortment of cookies, macarons, and brownies. Some of the highlights include a pistachio shortbread dipped in white chocolate, blueberry macarons, Kafka’s famous salted chocolate chip, and two heart-shaped sugar cookies frosted with purple and red icing.

Maenam

Renowned chef Angus An and the culinary crew at Maenam will be featuring two terrific Valentine’s Day tasting menus for both dine-in and takeout that are loaded with options to choose from. 

The Valentine’s Day dine-in menu features salad options such as crispy lingcod larb salad, currie options like Massaman leg of lamb curry, and stir fry options like three-flavoured pork rib. For takeout, Maenam has put together three five-course packages that feature omnivore, pescatarian, and vegetarian themes.

Minami

Minami Yaletown chefs Alan Ferrer and Nikki Tam have teamed up to create a special six-course Valentine’s Day menu that begins with an amuse bouche of Chilean crab salad macaron, followed by a sashimi course and the Oyster Yin Yang with chilled and Aburi oysters. 

Guests will then be treated to a decadent surf and turf of filet mignon with whisky peppercorn tamari soy veal reduction paired with Hokkaido scallops and lobster tail, a second sushi course, and a white chocolate raspberry sesame mousse to finish.

Pizzeria Farina

Vancouver’s ever-popular heart-shaped pizzas are making a return to both Pizzeria Farina and its sister restaurant Farina a Legna for one day only on February 14. Pizzeria Farina will also be offering guests $5 off their orders when combined with a bottle of the featured Lambrusco.

Railtown Cafe and Catering

Railtown Catering always ups its game for special occasions, and this year’s five-course Valentine’s Day take-home menu is no exception. The ready-to-eat menu comes complete with flavourful options from top to bottom, including duck consomme with foie gras ravioli, Jerusalem artichoke and black winter truffles, warm lobster salad with classic thermidor garnish, and a strawberry and rose Saint Honore to finish. 

As always, there are plenty of excellent add-on options to go along with the package, including wine pairings, floral arrangements, cheese and charcuterie boards, and more.

Temper Chocolate and Pastry

Rounding out the list of Vancouver’s most renowned patisseries, Temper Chocolate and Pastry has put together a Valentine’s Day collection from chef Steven Hodge that features selections such as edible heart showpieces, strawberry dessert cakes, chocolate lollipops, and four- and six-piece heart chocolate boxes with flavours like ganache, strawberry, yuzu, and dulce.
