One Day in Toronto: singer Ceréna

The Club Quarantine co-founder dishes on their favourite Toronto eats

Despite breaking into the music industry back in 2012, it wasn’t until the recent release of their debut album, resurrection, that Toronto-based singer Ceréna was able to truly express themself as an artist.

Embracing the power of independence and the freedom of authentic self-expression, the 15-track LP combines Ceréna’s Colombian roots with a collection of quintessential club pop tracks, while successfully conveying the multidisciplinary artists’ powerful message of love, community, and nonconformity.

We recently had a chance to catch up with the talented co-founder of Club Quarantine, who took some time from their busy schedule to dish on their favourite places to eat and drink in Toronto.

Breakfast

[I love] anywhere that can serve a sickening eggs benny–with lox please!

Call me basic, but Fran’s is where I’ve have had breakfast the most. I don’t eat out for breakfast unless it’s for some specific reason, but I tend to always go back to ol’ faithful.

Lunch

Ital Vital is my absolute fave. I always feel better about life when I eat vegan, and this place makes it so easy and delicious.

There’s not one dish I don’t like and I love how the menu adapts to the produce they have access to, ensuring the food’s always fresh. The people are also super nice and it feels very warm and inviting every time I go.

Dinner

Umami House is my family’s go-to when we want to order in and have a low-key night.

The food is delish and it won’t break the bank…who doesn’t like the sound of that? Highly recommend any of their bento boxes–I always go for the assorted tempura bento.

I really, really love Cold Tea in Kensington. I’m not sure if that location is still open–I haven’t been to a bar since before [the pandemic]–but that place has been a fave for a long time.

The vibes are right, the drinks are hawt and not too expensive. It’ll always have a place in my heart!
