Osoyoos-based chef Murray McDonald just became the South Okanagan’s newest millionaire after winning a $1 million guaranteed prize in the June 2 Lotto 6/49 draw.

As a chef known for championing local Indigenous-inspired cuisine and culture at The Bear, The Fish, The Root and The Berry, it seems fitting that McDonald purchased the winning ticket while shopping at the nearby NK’Mip Corner gas station. 

According to McDonald, he plans to use the newly acquired funds to add a few guitars to his collection and to take his family on a vacation to Hawaii when it’s safe to do so.
