Restaurants offering special New Year's Eve dinner menus in Vancouver and Whistler

Some great dining options to help ring in the new year in BC

With the chaotic year that was 2021 now approaching its end, we’re all looking very much forward to allowing ourselves one night of blissful indulgence before we embark in the new year. 

Although it may still seem far away, New Year’s Eve is actually right around the corner, and if you’re still scrambling for options to ring in the new year in style, worry not; we’ve got you covered. 

From comforting casual fare and funky music at The Chickadee Room to family-style feasts from Maenam, to a decadent multi-course menu and masquerade gala at Black and Blue, here are some of the best ways to celebrate New Year’s Eve in B.C. 

Alimentaria Mexicana

One of Granville Island’s newest and most buzzworthy eateries, Alimentaria Mexicana is celebrating the new year with two family-style four-course dinners featuring a flavourful selection of dishes such as mushroom tostada with crispy sunchokes, grilled oysters with tarragon butter and fontina cheese, duck and butternut squash flautas with recado negro crema, bone marrow and skirt steak heirloom corn sopes, and more. 

Tickets prices range from $110 to $140 and come complete with a complimentary glass of bubbles on arrival.

ARC Restaurant

Fairmont Waterfront’s acclaimed ARC Restaurant has long been one of the province’s top New Year’s Eve destinations for a reason. This year, chef Michael Pagnacco has put together both regular and vegetarian menus that are available in either a three-course or five-course variety. 

In terms of vegetarian options, both the three-course and five-course menus contain offerings such as marinated artichokes, crispy kuri squash, and whisky and hazelnut praline mousse, while the regular menus include a variety of New Year’s Eve classics like oysters and caviar, wagyu beef tenderloin and lobster, and ricotta gnudi with chanterelles and duck confit.

Black + Blue

If you’re looking for a delicious dining experience that embraces the New Year’s Eve spirit of glitz and glamour, Black and Blue’s Masquerade Gala Dinner is where you should be on December 31. Along with a complimentary glass of bubbles, party favours, and plenty of musical entertainment throughout the evening, Black and Blue is offering a multi-course menu packed with options throughout each course. 

The restaurant is also featuring a Golden Age of Steak Platter for Two, which includes a tomahawk ribeye, wagyu skewers, lobster thermidor, and an assortment of classic accompaniments.

Boulevard Kitchen and Oyster Bar

No matter how or when you want to celebrate New Year’s Eve, with multiple seatings and a diverse spectrum of luxurious menu options, Boulevard Kitchen and Oyster Bar will help you ring in the new year in style. 

Whether it’s an early three-course dinner packed with options like black truffle foie gras terrine, wagyu bourguignon and chocolate mousse, a four-course feast featuring yellowtail crudo, ravioli al uovo, beef rossini, and passionfruit meringue, or a robust selection of elegant sharables, chef Roger Ma and his talented team have you covered.

Chickadee Room

If you’re looking to ring in the new year with comforting casual eats, creative cocktails, and great tunes, Vancouver’s Chickadee Room is the place to be. In addition to featuring the full menu from Juke Fried Chicken, New Year’s Eve guests will be treated to a complimentary welcome cocktail and a Champagne toast when the clock strikes midnight.

Fanny Bay

New Year’s Eve and indulging in delicious oysters go hand-in-hand, and few Vancouver restaurants do oysters better than Fanny Bay. Throughout the afternoon and evening of December 31, Fanny Bay will offer a special selection of oysters that range from Sun Seeker (firm, sweet, light brine) and Kumamoto (melon, salt snap) to Olympia (soft copper, long-brine finish), Sand Dunes (salty, melon, buttery finish), and more. 

Chef Tommy Shorthouse will also feature a special seafood tower which includes a whole cold cracked lobster, half a cold cracked Dungeness crab, poached spot prawns with caviar, 6 of our daily selected oysters, geoduck sashimi, marinated octopus, mussel escabeche, and two Russian Standard Gold Vodka.

Glowbal

Chef Alex Kim has prepared a fantastic five-course New Year's Eve menu featuring an amuse-bouche of Quebec foi gras and tête de moine, a wagyu beef carpaccio starter, pan-seared sablefish and lobster main course, a decadent Oreo Mont Blanc dessert, along with plenty of options and upgrades upon request. 

Glowbal will also feature a live DJ, complimentary glasses of bubbles, and an epic 500-balloon drop at the stroke of midnight.

Hy’s Whistler

If celebrating New Year’s Eve with the beautiful backdrop of scenic Whistler, B.C. wasn’t already special enough, Hy’s Whistler has put together a festive menu of classic house favourites, including its famous cheese toast, jumbo prawn cocktails, Canadian prime filet or beef tenderloin, Belgian chocolate Bourbon cake, and more.

Maenam

Vancouver’s award-winning Maenam is serving up a bold and flavourful finish to 2021 with both its decadent in-house dining experience and a casual takeout heat-and-serve feast. For dine-in festivities, chef Roger Ma has designed a family-style menu featuring a pair of snacks to pique the appetite, two starters, a trio of main-course dishes, and a pair of desserts for a sweet finish. 

Similar to its Christmas takeout package, Maenam’s New Year’s Eve kit comes complete with a whole Asian-style salt-cured roast chicken, fried Brussels sprouts salad, crispy sticky rice made with chicken drippings, house-made sausage, mushrooms and dried cranberries, and hazelnut Mor Kaeng custard for dessert.

Maenam is also offering a black pepper crab as an add-on to any New Year’s Eve feast (must book 48 hours in advance) along with a bottle of Fitzpatrick ‘Fitz’ Cremant 2019.

Versante Hotel

Along with a great selection of winter staycation experiences, Versante Hotel is providing unique New Year’s Eve dining opportunities at both Bruno and Cask. At Bruno, guests will be treated to a luxurious four-course feast of West Coast delicacies, including black and gold oysters, caviar, saffron cream mussels, truffle lavender duck, and more. 

At Cask, in addition to a fantastic selection of whisky-forward cocktails, diners will enjoy a four-course menu highlighted by options such as caviar beignet, dry-aged beef tartare, lamb chops, chocolate pave, and more.
