Edmonton's Tres Carnales Taqueria to close permanently on January 14

Alberta's first contemporary taqueria closes for business

This morning, the long-standing Edmonton taqueria Tres Carnales announced that its final day of service would be Friday, January 14.

"We are so incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of your lives over the years, doing what we love and sharing it with you. To our hardworking staff, past and current - we love you! Your dedication, ability to adapt and general love and passion for our concept helped to put us on the map and the memories and friendships we have built will forever be cherished," wrote the ownership in today's announcement.

Opened in 2011 and co-owned by Chris Sills and Dani Braun (who also operate Rostizado), Tres Carnales has operated successful in Edmonton's downtown for nearly 12 years. It was noted as the first contemporary taqueria in Western Canada and quickly gained national attention for gracing lists like Macleans Top 50 Best New Restaurants in Canada and being featured on Food Network Canada's popular food travel series You Gotta Eat Here!

In addition to its many accolades and popularity over the years, it was also one of the driving forces that helped to evolve Edmonton's food scene over the past decade into the vibrant culinary destination it is today.

Tres Carnales Taqueria will close permanently at 8 p.m. on Friday, January 14.
