Julianna Laine is a singer-songwriter who was born in Calgary, AB. She describes her sound as “beach country,” largely influenced by her time spent living in Byron Bay, Australia, and her homegrown country roots. Her first single “Beachtown” was released last August and debuted in the iTunes Country Top 40. Currently, Laine is spending time back and forth between Calgary and California and is one of the Top 12 artists in Project Wild! Julianna is also a student taking her degree in information design and marketing, she's a creative intern at C&B Advertising, a Lululemon educator (and musician of course!).

Being a born and raised Calgary girl, the talented performer knows some great spots to hit if you're in town for the Calgary Stampede this month which we know at least one million folks are!

Breakfast

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. (Did someone say pancakes?) Red’s Diner in Kensington is one of the places my friends and I love to grab breakfast because it’s right down the street from YYC Cycle, which definitely increases our motivation to survive spin class. The menu at Red’s covers everything from pancake stacks to soups and sandwiches. I’m a huge coffee lover, and they make sure your cup is always full!

Lunch

I work downtown Calgary, so when I go out for lunch, it is normally to Sunterra Market, partly because it’s super close to my office and mostly because I am obsessed with the salads there. I love Sunterra because their food is always so fresh and healthy. My mom and I meet on the Sunterra rooftop patio for lunch during the hot summer days! It’s a great place to hang out in the sun, and away from the chaos, before getting back to work.

Dinner

My favorite place to eat dinner in Calgary is UNA Pizza and Wine. I discovered UNA a few years ago during the Stampede and still, to this day, I haven’t had a better pizza! They put honey or truffle oil or something completely amazing on their pizza, which takes it to a whole other level. They also have a fun little patio right on the main street which I love to people watch from!

Drinks

722 Beer Haus is my go-to for drinks. They have a huge beer selection. (I am a beer lover!) This summer, my friend and I have set a goal to try every beer on their list and rate them as we go. We’ve made it about 20 per cent through the list so far. Our best rated is the Floris Apple, which is a 9.8/10.
