If you haven't tuned your radio into Wild 95.3, you're missing out. Jess Hoy and Bo Gordon are the quick and quirky morning show hosts of the hot country station and together, they offer a wild morning full of laughs, contests, and boot-stompin' country tunes that will surely put you in the best mood before work!
Wild 95.3 is also the sponsor for Project WILD, a program for country music artists across Alberta to educate, promote, develop and launch the careers of some of Alberta's up and coming country and roots artists.
Prior to being a DJ, Hoy was a nurse but after a severe quarter life crisis, she went back to school for broadcasting and has been working in country radio ever since. She has an unhealthy obsession with fried chicken and Elvis, which we appreciate deeply.
Gordon is a true cowboy through and through, with his signature drink combo being beer and orange juice, and claims that these coined "Redneck margaritas" can help you lose weight.
So where do these country radio hosts go for good food and a good time? Here are their favourites.
Breakfast
Gordon: Phil’s! Because nothing says good morning like half 'n’ half diced and shredded hashbrowns!
Hoy: The Bro'Kin Yolk. Any restaurant that uses duck fat in their hash browns is a winner!
Lunch
Gordon: I love O’Sullivans because it’s close to work and they have killer burgers.
Hoy: The Taste of Thailand is so freakin good! The coconut soup is literally all I think about. I’ve travelled to Thailand and this is the best Thai food I’ve had in Canada.
Dinner
Gordon: Minas Brazilian Steakhouse has the best Brazilian barbecue you’ll ever have. Pretty affordable for the food coma you experience afterwards!
Hoy: Añejo's happy hours are amazing and also, tequila. I just love watching the servers make the guacamole at the table.
Drinks
Gordon: The Unicorn, because they have bubble hockey and their taco nights are unreal!
Hoy: Pig and Duke is close to home and they have lots of beer on tap, plus they have tater tots on the menu. Who doesn’t love tater tots?!
