With a voice that can rival Christina Aguilera's and captivating songs that have been streamed millions and millions of times, it goes without saying that there's much to love about the Alberta-born singer Taylor-Rae.

After spending years cutting her teeth in the west coast music scene, the award-winning country act has been leaving her imprint on Nashville since moving down south in 2022. In 2023, her song ‘If This Is Love’ saw her featured as Rogers’ Media ‘One To Watch’ across the country, helping her achieve her first Top 60 single at Canadian Country radio.

Earlier this year, she released Honest, a six-track EP that captivates from start to finish. (And if the EP's title track doesn't tug at your heart strings, nothing will!)

Her trifecta of strong songwriting, unparalleled vocals, and infectious personality has even caught the attention of the iconic CMA Fest, where Taylor-Rae will be performing for the first time on Thursday, June 6.

Despite her busy schedule of performing, songwriting and recording, the rising star still makes plenty of time for her family back home in Canada.

From an iconic breakfast spot to a bar with half-price wine on Wednesdays (yes please!), here are Taylor-Rae's favourite spots to dine in her hometown of Edmonton.

Breakfast

The place we always went after hockey practice when I was a kid is Hap’s Hungry House. This family-run restaurant is an absolute staple in Edmonton.

The food top-notch, diner-style eats at their best, but what I love most is that you always feel like a part of the fam when you walk into Hap's.

Lunch

My amazing sister Alexandra Poznikoff now plays for the PWHL, but when we were younger, she played hockey for the University of Alberta Pandas. We spent a lot of time at the Sherlock Holmes Pubs' campus location for lunches...and pre-game happy hours too!

They’ve got some great local beers and the pub-style pizza here is incredible. If you’re looking for a chill sports bar with great food, I would highly recommend.

Dinner

Sorrentino's is a go-to for my family and I! Not only was one of my first jobs as a teenager, I worked here as a hostess, but the food is amazing!

It's now a small chain, but it's got a great neighborhood feel...and a great wine list too. If you’re looking for an intimate setting and some great Italian, this is the place.

Drinks and dessert

Rebel Food and Drink is a really cool spot that offers something for everyone. It’s a high-energy neighbourhood restaurant with an awesome happy hour that they call “Anarchy Hour”.

They’ve got an awesome selection of drinks and even ridiculously fun dessert, the Fruit Loop Confetti Birthday Cake. If that doesn’t sell you, I don’t know what will!

(Also, a veryimportant side note: They have half-priced wine on Wednesdays.)
