After roughly 25 years in the music industry and a portfolio packed with collaborations alongside some of the world’s most prolific producers, DJs, and emcees, Montreal-based DJ Killa-Jewel has quietly reached a legendary status within Canada’s underground hip-hop community.

Following the success of her 2020 EP, Reckless, Killa-Jewel recently signed to Hydrophonik Records via Universal Music Canada. This past October, she went on to release a new five-track EP, Sagittarius, wherein she creatively fuses scratch techniques made famous by classic breakbeat-era DJs of the late 80s and 90s with the electronically-synthesized sounds of modern-day trap music.

We recently had a chance to chat with the multi-talented turntablist, who took some time to fill us in on her go-to food and drink spots in Montreal.

[Larry’s is] one of the few places I trust!

Sometimes I just feel like something decadent for breakfast...something that will keep me going until the next day. Also, they truly care about where their meat comes from.

I love Juni because I’m a huge sushi fan and his fish is the best in the city bar-none.

The staff [at Juni] are super friendly and always remember my faves. I’m a regular!

[Tuck Shop has] local, sustainable, fresh ingredients made with real love and an appreciation for quality. It’s for the real "foodie" and their bar staff are always amazing.

(Bonus: Their desserts are made fresh daily by the owner’s mom!)

Drinks

Atwater Cocktail Club is a classy, French brasserie style cocktail bar with a huge drink menu to choose from. Love the vibe here!
