The captivating music of Tafari Anthony (pronounced: tah-far-eye) is certainly one dynamic aspect of the Toronto-based artist, but his musical talents also include helping others shine. The JUNO-noimated singer has also written and produced for an array of notable artists including Tanika Charles, Drag Race icons Priyanka and Katya, The Fretless and Nuela Charles.

Since achieving Top 25 status in CBC Music's Searchlight Competition 2016, Tafari has released three EPs in his career including The Way You See Me (2020, which was nominated for Adult Contemporary Album of The Year at the 2022 JUNO Awards.

He's dropped two singles so far this year, including the vibey "Heart Race" (listen above), and you'll also be happy to know that Tafari’s debut full-length album will be released in fall 2023 by 604 Records.

From a fulfilling homestyle breakfast to tequila on King Street, here's where Tafari Anthony loves to eat and drink in his home base of Toronto.

Breakfast

When it comes to breakfast, I’m not super fancy. I don’t do eggs benedict or even care to try anything outside of a classic breakfast...but that doesn’t mean that anywhere can serve me up a classic breakfast and make this list!

The Lakeview always gives me just what I want.

Whether it’s The Standard Breakfast, an omelette or—let’s be real—the buttermilk pancake stack, I always leave full and satisfied. My bank account appreciates the prices too!

My breakfast is usually later in the morning, so by lunch time I’m probably just ready for some snacking.

If I’m out and about in the city I’m probably grabbing a turkey BLT on a Tomazzo Bagel from Great Canadian Bagel and trying to eat it while power walking to my next thing.

Dinner

When I first moved back to Toronto, Cranberries Restaurant was like my second home. It was right around the corner from where I was living, and you’d always be greeted with good energy from everyone in there. Some days my partner and I would end up having all our meals there!

I can confidently say I’ve never had a bad meal at Cranberries. My go to here is the Cranberries Grilled Chicken dinner.

Drinks

I’m not a big drinker, but when I do drink, tequila is my girl.

I had my first date with one of my partners at Anejo, so it holds special memories for me, but the drinks are also solid. I’ve yet to get there on happy hour to experience the great prices, but I’m ready when you are!
