It may have taken Montréal-based artist Dominique Fils-Aimé some time to discover her affinity for creating music, but given what she’s accomplished in the short time since switching careers to pursue her passion, it’s quite clear that she was meant to be a singer.
Following a deep and well-received run on Season 3 of La Voix–the Québec rendition of The Voice–Fils-Aimé began working on what would later become the first in a trilogy of albums, Nameless. One year later the talented musician released her follow-up, Stay Tuned!, which went on to earn her Vocal Jazz Album of the Year at the 2019 JUNO Awards.
Last month, Fils-Aimé completed her dynamic three-album anthology with the release of Three Little Words. Throughout the album, Fils-Aimé explores the roots of African-American musical culture, the empowerment of empathy and acceptance, and the importance of self-healing.
We recently had a chance to catch up with the soulful jazz and blues singer to find out where she loves to go for food and drink in her hometown of Montréal.
