Known well for its extensive contribution to improving the food security of marginalized people in the downtown area of Saskatoon, Bannock Express just announced that it must suddenly relocate following a landlord dispute.
Citing mistreatment from its landlord, including an attempt to lock out the tenant without due notice, over a lease extension agreement, it has launched a GoFundMe with a goal of $10,000 to help the business find a new home.
"Since the sudden move Bannock Express is out thousands of dollars for blueprints provided for kitchen upgrades. We are still waiting to find out the full extent of damage, the sudden move will cost my business extensive revenue loss in the middle of a pandemic...[We] are worried their landlord will try to lock [us] out again with any notice," reads part of owner Rachel Smith's GoFundMe page.
Donations can currently be made online. Since being launched yesterday evening, the GoFundMe initiative has raised close to $500.
