Calgary's Made By Marcus to open new ice cream shop in Bridgeland

There's another Made By Marcus location in the works

After the Middle Eastern institution Tazza closed its doors back in January, its property has sat vacant since. After nearly six months of pondering what would move into its space, this week, a bright blue awning for Made By Marcus has appeared. Ice cream lovers rejoice!

Still in the intial stages of renovations, it's hard to tell exactly when the ice cream maker's third Calgary location will open, but I think it's safe to bet that owner Marcus Purtzki and his staff will be scooping to lineups of Calgarians by mid-August. The ice cream purveyor will be sharing the building with Lil' Empire, the burger-centric concept from owners of Empire Provisions.

The first Made By Marcus location opened in Calgary back in summer 2016 on 17th Avenue. Since then, they expanded to a second location in West Hillhurst followed by an Edmonton location last July. Owner Purtzki is known for his unique approach to ice cream-making, churning out quirky seasonal flavours such as toasted hay and Saskatoon berry, peanut butter and dill pickle, in addition to signatures like raspberry cardamom, and double cookies and cream.
