Though it was nearing completion in spring 2020, the pandemic saw Concorde Group's new culinary crown jewel, Major Tom, hold off on opening until things normalized. First, they were hoping to make their debut in summer 2020, then the fall...and then this spring. Now that restrictions relax completely as of July 1 in Alberta, the restaurant is finally scheduled to open its doors on Tuesday, July 6.

Perched on the 40th floor of the Stephen Avenue Place building, Major Tom offers a striking near-360 degree view of Calgary and its surrounding landscapes. With its beautiful focal point bar and interior design, it makes the neighbouring Calgary Tower seem like...well...a tourist trap.

"A trip to the 40th floor of Stephen Avenue Place may be the furthest destination many of our new guests will have travelled this year," says the restaurant's general manager Brittany Thompson. "Our main goal is to ensure that our guests find value and consistency in their experience...I can promise you one thing - the energy is going to be electric!"

Chef Garrett Martin has had to revisit and update the restaurant's menus multiple times over the past year and a half, but Major Tom's debut menu sounds tasty, offerings dishes like tuna crudo with green tomatoes, chili vinegar, Thai basil and radish, B.C. strawberries with comte cheese, Iberico ham and quince vinaigrette, slow-roasted duck with pistachio purée, roasted cauliflower, summer fruit and jus, and more.

Major Tom will be open Tuesdays to Sundays from 5 - 11 p.m. starting July 6. Reservations can now be made online.
